Here Nolde is using shades of greens in some of his figures, (jesus and his followers) which gives an impression of sickness and sadness. He hasn't used green in the figures on the right, which appear to be the soldiers that captured Jesus and put him on the cross. They have much different feeling about them, just enforced by the colour of their skin.
